Agentic Grid Planning on AWS is a program that helps utilities accelerate interconnection studies.
The program provides customers access to AI agents that carry out study workflows using the physics-based simulation software, grid models, scripts, and engineering standards their engineering teams already use and trust. These agents were developed in collaboration with Duke Energy and are managed by AWS.
With agents handling study execution, power systems engineers can complete studies faster, analyze more scenarios, and focus on engineering judgment and decisions. Every step is captured in a versioned, reviewable record.
The program's AI agents complete study tasks up to 4x as fast as manual analysis, reducing engineer-active time by up to 92%.

Complete studies faster
The AI agents carry out procedural study work under your engineers' direction, so teams explore more scenarios and produce more detailed analysis while engineers focus on judgment and decisions.
Use the engineering environment you trust
The AI agents work in your existing engineering environment: the physics-based simulation software, grid models, files, scripts, standards, and procedures your team relies on. The simulation software performs the deterministic modeling and analysis; the AI agents run and coordinate the study workflow.
Keep a reviewable record
Engineers stay in the lead, with a more reviewable record than manual processes usually provide. The AI agents version study artifacts and record workflow steps and decisions, keeping simulation output, AI reasoning, and engineer decisions distinguishable and traceable to the runs that produced them.

Run steady-state transmission studies for generation and large-load interconnection
Run power flow and contingency analysis, categorize violations, propose mitigations for approval, and draft reports. When inputs change, rerun without rebuilding the study by hand.
Codify and scale engineering practice
Direct the first study interactively, then have the agents draft a workflow guide from the recorded session. Your engineers review and promote the guide for reuse.
