Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you choose to run this preconfigured Foswiki appliance. The dimensions are not feature tiers. Instead, each maps to a specific AWS instance type, so the software runs the same across all of them. Options span general-purpose families (m, t), compute-optimized families (c), memory-optimized families (r), and storage-optimized families (i), in sizes from nano up to 2xlarge. Larger instances add more CPU, memory, or storage capacity and cost more per hour. Pick the size that fits your workload. AWS charges the underlying compute separately.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each hourly unit covers one running EC2 instance of the size you select. The charge meters running time for the preconfigured Foswiki software on that instance. AWS bills the underlying compute, storage, and network separately. The appliance itself is open source, so you pay for the packaged, ready-to-run image.
Hourly software charges accrue only while the instance runs. A stopped instance stops accruing hourly charges. Note that AWS may still bill underlying storage for a stopped instance. Also, by default an AWS server changes its IP address when stopped and restarted unless you attach a static Elastic IP.

Usage instructions
System initialization
After launch, browse to http://<Public_DNS>/ and complete the first-boot configuration, or connect by SSH using the key pair selected at launch.
Operating system access
Connect using SSH as the Linux user admin with the selected EC2 key pair. Run privileged commands with sudo; this provides full OS-level administration.
Application access
Open http://<Public_DNS>/ in a web browser. The application may redirect to HTTPS after configuration.
