Overview
Paperclip AI is an agent orchestration platform that lets you deploy and manage AI coding agents from a single web interface.
This AMI is fully pre-configured on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. Launch the instance, connect via SSH tunnel, and the onboarding wizard opens automatically in your browser at localhost:3100.

Getting started:
- Launch this AMI (t3.small or larger, 2GB+ RAM required)
- SSH with tunnel: ssh -L 3100:127.0.0.1:3100 ubuntu@your-instance-ip
- Open http://localhost:3100 in your browser
- Follow the onboarding wizard
Security: Paperclip runs on localhost only. Use SSH tunneling for access, or configure Caddy with your domain for HTTPS. Never expose port 3100 directly.
Minimum: 2GB RAM (t3.small). Recommended: 4GB+ RAM for running multiple agents.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Paperclip AI 1.0.5: official stable v2026.916.1, source commit d554c4789ed3930f8a53ac9fdf6503b3187097da. Ubuntu 24.04 security refresh, Node.js 24.21.0, npm 12.1.0 and pnpm 10.34.5 (source initially built with upstream pnpm 9.15.4). Pinned compatible security dependency updates are recorded on the image. Restores complete listed toolset and automatic localhost-only onboarding; no credentials baked in. Fresh-image UI/API, database initialization, onboarding and reboot persistence tested. Known vendor-kernel advisories remain, including SCTP CVE-2026-64564 (SCTP inactive in tested defaults). Remaining dependency matches include three Undici WebSocket advisories in a Headers-only dependency path and four pnpm-vendored dependency advisories affecting untrusted developer inputs. Conditional build/vendor-tool findings remain; no claim of zero vulnerabilities. Default services are loopback-only. Do not expose unauthenticated Paperclip or enable optional services without reviewing their security configuration and vendor updates.

Usage instructions
Launch t3a.large or larger (8 GiB RAM recommended for the full stack). Restrict SSH to your administrator IP.
Connect with SSH tunnels: ssh -L 3100:127.0.0.1:3100 -L 6080:127.0.0.1:6080 ubuntu@<instance-ip>
Allow up to five minutes for the first cold boot, then open http://localhost:3100 . Paperclip starts automatically, initializes its embedded PostgreSQL database, and presents onboarding. Create your organization and configure your own AI provider/account. No provider credentials are included.
Paperclip and noVNC are loopback-only. Do not expose ports 3100, 5900 or 6080 publicly. Browser access: http://localhost:6080/vnc.html through the SSH tunnel.
Pre-installed agent CLIs: openclaw, claude, codex, opencode. Each requires your own authentication. Developer tools include Docker/Compose, Chrome/Playwright, Node.js 24, pnpm, AWS CLI, GitHub CLI, jq, yq, ripgrep, fd-find, ffmpeg and tmux.

Caddy and Tailscale are installed but disabled until configured. Before exposing a domain, configure authenticated Paperclip deployment and HTTPS. Application data lives under ~/.paperclip; back it up before upgrades. Launching this new AMI does not migrate data from another instance automatically.
