Overview
SoftEther VPN Server implements the VPN server function. It listens and accepts connections from VPN Client or VPN Bridge with several VPN protocols.
This Image comes with a pre-configured and maintained SoftEther VPN Server that has been pre-test for readiness to work and compatibility with AWS Cloud. Tidal Media Inc. hardened this SotftEther VPN Server Image to meet all security and enterprise standards and provide you with the instantaneous deployment of VPN Server in EC2 Environments.

You pay by the hour for the software, and the rate depends on which AWS EC2 instance type you run. The software itself is free VPN server software; your cost tracks the compute size you choose. Options span burstable t2, t3, and t3a families for lighter or variable workloads, plus m3, m4, m5, m5a, m5d, m5ad, m5n, and m5dn families for steady general-purpose use. Within each family, sizes range from nano and micro up to 24xlarge and bare metal. You scale cost up or down by picking a smaller or bigger instance.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
One unit is one running EC2 instance measured per hour. You pick an instance type, and the software meters each hour that instance runs. The rate reflects the instance type you selected. Running two instances of the same type bills two separate hourly streams.
The software charge meters running instance-hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue software charges. You may still pay underlying AWS fees, such as storage for the attached volume, while the instance is stopped. Restarting the instance resumes the hourly software metering.
The VPN server software itself carries no license fee. Your hourly charge reflects the compute size you run. Burstable families like t2, t3, and t3a suit lighter or variable traffic. The m-series families suit steady, continuous VPN workloads. Bigger sizes handle more connections at a higher hourly rate.

The software works as expected and I'm happy with the performance, but is very misleading saying this is Free. Because it isn't. You pay for the software + the EC2 instance. Is ok I knew the EC2 instance was not free, but you end-up paying $14/month for the software, now looking back it might make sense not to be free. but the Title FREE VPN SERVER is not very honest.
