Overview
CentOS Stream 10 with XFCE GUI Desktop for x86_64 provides a ready-to-use graphical workstation on AWS.
This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for the preconfigured XFCE desktop, upstream-built XRDP with Xvnc remote access, Firefox, automated instance-specific user setup, and support by Elm Computing.
Connect with an RDP client using the instance public IP address. Sign in as elm and use the EC2 instance ID as the initial password; change it after first login. For SSH, use ec2-user with the key pair selected at launch. Connection instructions are available at https://docs.elmcomputing.io/aws/x86/linux/login.html .

Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for the AWS EC2 instance type you run. Each dimension maps to one instance size, so pricing scales with the compute, memory, or accelerator capacity that instance provides. Compute-optimized (c-series), memory-optimized (r-, x-, u-series), storage (d-, i-series), general-purpose (m-, t-series), and GPU or accelerator families (g-, p-, inf-, trn-series) each carry their own hourly rate. Larger sizes within a family cost more per hour. This rate is the vendor's support charge for the packaged desktop software, billed on top of standard AWS infrastructure fees. No upfront commitment applies.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The hourly rate is the vendor's support charge for the packaged CentOS Stream 10 desktop with the XFCE graphical interface and a preconfigured user account. It applies per instance-hour. You also pay standard AWS infrastructure fees for the EC2 instance you run, billed separately by AWS.
The software charge meters running instance-hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. Underlying AWS storage costs for the volume may still apply while stopped, but those are AWS charges, not the vendor's support charge.
Billing is pay-as-you-go. You pay only for the hours each instance runs, with no upfront commitment. The rate changes with the instance type you choose, so cost scales with the compute, memory, or accelerator capacity you select for that hour.

Usage instructions
Launch this x86_64 AMI on t2.medium in a supported Region with an EC2 key pair. Allow TCP 3389 from your trusted client IP for RDP and TCP 22 from your trusted administration IP for SSH. Connect with an RDP client to the instance public IP as user elm; the initial password is the EC2 instance ID. Change that password after first login.
